What does the name Chiharu mean in Japanese?

Kind of a random question, but a few years ago, a girl gave a man a ride somewhere and he shot her in the back of her head for no reason. She died a few days later. She was a white Texan girl but online she went by the name "Chiharu." Is there a special meaning to it?
