End Times...science fiction into science fact?

If you take a look at our rescent history there are numerous ideas that have been realized to fact. Technology is a great example. Most of the things we now have in our homes were dreamed up in the 1960's science fiction 'verse. So if the stats say that 25% of Americans are Evangelical, and do in fact think the End Times are coming. Who agrees that this type of thinking will in fact force them upon all of humanity just to prove a point?
