I have recently finished the "His Dark Materials" trilogy by Philip Pullman. What novel should I read next?

I am specifically interested in fantasy/science-fiction, and I understand that finding a story such as "His Dark Materials" is seldom but could anyone please recommend a story similar to this trilogy.
